The Borough of Midland is committed to making its website accessible to all residents and visitors, including people with disabilities. We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we review the site regularly to improve the experience for everyone.
What we have done
- Text and buttons use color combinations that meet contrast guidelines
- Links within text are underlined so they don’t rely on color alone
- Pages can be zoomed on phones and tablets
- A “Skip to main content” link and visible focus outlines support keyboard navigation
- Images include text descriptions for screen readers
Accessibility toolbar
Every page includes an accessibility toolbar (provided by accessiBe) that lets you adjust the site to your needs. It is an extra option and does not replace our own work to make the site accessible. You can use it to:
- Choose a preset profile, such as Seizure Safe, Vision Impaired, Cognitive Disability, ADHD Friendly, Screen Reader, or Keyboard Navigation
- Change text size, font, spacing, line height and alignment
- Switch to high-contrast, dark, light, inverted or monochrome colors
- Stop animations and mute audio
- Highlight links, headings, or the item that has focus
- Enlarge the cursor, use a reading mask, or use a printer-friendly view
Keyboard shortcuts: press Alt+1 to turn on screen-reader adjustments and Alt+2 to open the skip-to-content menu.
Compatibility
This site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with common screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack.
